At Planet Massage, we try to view the body holistically, and address your symptoms and dysfunctions specifically. This can be confusing at times with all of the variations and types of massage and bodywork out there, especially when working with Eastern Medicine theory. What is reflexology? Do I want a deep tissue massage or Swedish? Will Active Isolated Stretching (A.I.S.) really help my scoliosis? Our goal here is to try to help you navigate beyond some of the bells, whistles and patchouli oil to give you some understanding of what this all means to you. More often than not, your therapist will combine a variety of techniques that they feel will be most appropriate for your condition, desires and needs. At Planet Massage, and elseware, every therapist has training in a different modalities and specialties. That is why even after experiencing many therapists and body workers, you likely will never have exactly the same treatment twice. There are literally thousands of massage, bodywork and alternative medicine modalities from around the world, and we will do our best to find what works right for you. In Florida for example, the state recognizes over a hundred different modalities for which massage therapists are licensed, and hundreds more fall under our license scope of practice, without being specifically mentioned by name.
